General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers courteously, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role includes performing a range of functions in all areas of the Store as needed and may involve additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Safety first: practice safe behaviors and maintain awareness on the sales floor.
- Maintain a clutter-free, safe shopping environment and report any unsafe conditions.
- Provide respectful, friendly service to Customers and Associates; greet Customers and acknowledge them during transactions.
- Assist Customers as needed, including register operations, merchandise assistance, and answering questions.
- Respond promptly to Customer service calls and escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the Ross brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks to maintain a neat store and refreshed high-touch areas.
- Maintain professional appearance and follow dress code.
- Conduct daily stocking, sizing, and recovery to ensure orderly presentation per guidelines.
- Expedite new merchandise to the floor and present items according to monthly guidelines.
- Understand Loss Prevention and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information and cash handling practices.
- Follow MOS policies and assist with disposals as needed.
- Operate store procedures for cash, checks, card transactions, and refunds with accuracy.

Qualifications And Special Skills
- Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic retail math.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use store equipment, stand/walk for extended periods, and perform essential physical tasks (bend, reach, lift up to specified weights).
- Stockroom shifts may require lifting up to 20 pounds; other shifts up to 25 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is $15.00 - $15.50 per hour. Benefits include insurance programs, Associate Discount, 401K, stock purchase, family leave, and other programs as described in company materials.
