Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in all activities.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers and engage in friendly, professional interactions.
  • Assist Customers as needed—be register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers with eye contact and a friendly "hello" throughout the Store and say "thank you" at each register transaction.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers; respond to service calls and resolve issues courteously, involving Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company dress code.
  • Complete daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per guidelines and maintain brand name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies (identification of MOS merchandise, processing, and notification of leadership for disposals).
  • Follow policies and procedures for cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline transactions; maintain accuracy when handling tenders.
  • Demonstrate urgency to efficiently perform duties and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
