General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. They greet Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treat fellow Associates with respect, follow company best practices, maintain a clean work area, and ensure proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe environment; keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional; recognize fellow Associates using Company programs.
- Assist Customers: register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly tone; say "thank you" at every register transaction.
- Provide prompt and courteous responses to Customer service needs; respond to calls immediately; escalate to Store Leadership as needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing restrooms) to maintain store areas and displays.
- Maintain a professional appearance and comply with the dress code.
- Maintain neat, clean, and organized store per company standards; assist with merchandising and recovery activities.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise according to monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understand Loss Prevention programs, shortage awareness, and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follow MOS policies and proper processing and disposal of MOS items with Store Leadership review.
- Handle cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, etc., with accuracy and awareness of procedures.
- Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Ability to communicate with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; ability to push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds periodically.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
- Stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds.
