General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks in all areas of the store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers at the register and with merchandise; greets Customers with eye contact, a smile, and polite interactions throughout the Store.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; answers Customer questions in a courteous and knowledgeable manner and calls a member of Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain a clean environment (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high-touch areas).
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
  • Performs daily merchandising and recovery tasks to keep the store neat, clean, and organized to company standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines, maintaining brand name familiarity within departments.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information and company assets.
  • Follows MOS policies for identifying and processing MOS merchandise and disposing with Store Leadership review.
  • Follows policies on cash, check, charge card, refunds, voids, and offline procedures with high accuracy in handling tender.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop; regular physical activity required.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
