General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be engaged in these tasks as assigned during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. The Associate may be requested to perform additional tasks to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment. Keeps exits clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times. Recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assists Customers as needed - is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably. Greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and a greeting throughout the Store and thanks customers at checkout.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers. Responds to Service calls immediately and handles issues courteously, escalating to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) and disinfects high-touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
- Performs daily cleaning and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
- Receives and expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandising items per guidelines and maintaining familiarity with departments to assist Customers.
- Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions. Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS policies, including identification of MOS merchandise, processing, and notifying Store Leadership for review and disposals.
- Follows policies and procedures concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures. Maintains accuracy when handling money.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to efficiently perform duties and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- For Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
