General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks as assigned during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. The Associate may be requested to perform additional tasks in specific situations if performing these tasks will help achieve our Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers as needed; is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably. Greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and says hello; thanks customers at checkout where appropriate.
  • Provides prompt responses to Customer Service inquiries; responds to calls immediately and involves Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain a neat store and ensures high-touch areas are disinfected.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor per guidelines and maintains product familiarity to assist Customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity, safeguards confidential information, and handles cash and merchandise responsibly.
  • Follows MOS and cash handling procedures with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Supports store operations with a sense of urgency and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop; ability to push/pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts may require capability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

Compensation And Benefits

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00. The base pay range is dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package; other rewards vary by position and location.
