General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks during all working hours and may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. Additional tasks may be assigned to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times; recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers as needed—register-trained; helps with merchandise; answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets customers with eye contact, smiles and says hello throughout the Store and thanks customers at checkout.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer Service calls and issues; escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain a neat store and restrooms; replenishes supplies and disinfects high-touch areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention, the Shortage Highway, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies and proper processing of disposals and cash handling procedures.
  • Demonstrates urgency to maximize productivity and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom associates: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
