General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, greets customers courteously, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role may require performing a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and additional tasks may be assigned to meet customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in all tasks.
- Maintains situational awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognizes fellow Associates through Company recognition programs.
- Assists Customers as needed—register-trained, assists with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly greeting throughout the store and thanks customers at checkout.
- Provides prompt and courteous responses to Customer Service inquiries and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high-touch areas) to maintain merchandise, customer areas, and Team areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
- Performs daily housekeeping and merchandising tasks to ensure a neat, clean, well-maintained store.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information and company assets.
- Follows MOS policies, including identification of MOS merchandise and proper processing of disposals.
- Handles cash, checks, card transactions, and refunds with accuracy and integrity.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and follow store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- For Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package; other rewards vary by position and location.
