General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times; recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assists Customers as needed—register-trained, assists with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greets customers throughout the store and thanks them at checkout.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer Service calls; handles issues courteously and with help from Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks to maintain a clean store and serviced areas, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company’s dress code.
- Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understands the Loss Prevention program, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS policies and proper processing of disposals after review by Store Leadership.
- Adheres to cash, check, charge card, and refund policies; maintains accuracy with banking-related tasks.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, cooperative manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds regularly.

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00, dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, education, and location. This range is one component of total compensation.
