Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Construction Estimator based in Ocala, FL. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and managing project budgets. Daily tasks include analyzing project specifications, collaborating with architects and engineers, and ensuring efficient cost management. Effective communication with clients and team members is essential to achieve project goals and maintain strong working relationships.

Position Summary:
The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial real estate and healthcare projects, typically ranging from $1 million to $40 million. This role requires strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of construction methods, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities:
Preconstruction & Bid Preparation:
· Review drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
· Prepare quantity take-offs, unit pricing, and cost summaries for all divisions of work.
· Develop preliminary budgets and detailed estimates during different design phases.
· Identify and analyze cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
Subcontractor & Vendor Management
· Solicit bids and develop relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
· Evaluate subcontractor proposals for scope compliance, cost accuracy, and risk management.
· Maintain an up-to-date database of subcontractors and vendors in the commercial and healthcare sectors.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers and clients to align project scope, budget, and expectations
· Collaborate with design teams to provide constructability reviews and cost feedback.
· Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
Cost Analysis & Reporting:
· Prepare detailed bid proposals, budgets, and cost breakdowns.
· Provide ongoing cost analysis during the project lifecycle.
· Track historical cost data for benchmarking and future estimates.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
· Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProCore, Bluebeam, Foundation).
· Strong understanding of CSI divisions and trade-specific cost factors.
· Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
· Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
