The Mechanic performs skilled diagnostic and mechanical repairs on over 1700 pieces of rolling stock, including gas and diesel-powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy equipment, lawn mowers, boats, trailers, and more. Responsibilities include work on small engines, brakes, PM services, tire repairs, inspections, AC repairs, electrical diagnostics, suspension, wheel alignment, gearboxes, hydraulics, welding, machining, engine rebuilds, transmissions, and fuel site maintenance. The Mechanic must be proficient in computer skills and maintain accurate records; operates wrecker as needed.

Qualifications include graduation from vocational or technical school in automotive mechanics with three to five years of experience or equivalent training and experience. The candidate must obtain a North Carolina Vehicle Safety Inspection License within one year of employment. A valid CDL is preferred. Must be physically capable of operating various equipment and machinery, exerting force as required, and climbing or reaching as necessary.
