Salary range $130k - $160k Position Title: Director - Quality AssuranceReports To: VP of EngineeringKey ResponsibilitiesProcess Development & Organizational MaturityDesign and implement comprehensive system test processes for multi-disciplinary testing (HW/SW/FW/Systems)Develop system test outcomes to support release through program management gate passage, satisfy entry/exit criteria, and aligned with testing standards across all product domainsDevelop and maintain system test documentation including test strategies, procedures, and quality metricsCreate cross-functional testing workflows that integrate hardware, software, and firmware validationImplement risk-based testing approaches to optimize coverage and resource allocationEstablish defect management processes and quality metrics/KPIsMeasure and maintain quality levels across all Inovonics productsIdentify tools to manage intake of products and features for testingTriage issues based on severity and priorityPerform Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to reduce issues found in the field and minimize recallsTeam Leadership & Strategic PlanningBuild, lead, and mentor a diverse system test team covering multiple technical domainsDevelop career paths and training programs for system test engineers across HW/SW/FW disciplinesCollaborate with engineering, product management, and operations teams to align system performance and quality objectivesDrive continuous improvement initiatives and testing process optimizationManage system test team budget and resource planningTechnical Implementation & AutomationDesign and implement comprehensive test automation strategies across all product layersLead creation of automated test scripts for hardware validation, software testing, and firmware verificationEstablish CI/CD pipelines with integrated automated testing for rapid feedback cyclesImplement test data management and test environment strategiesOversee selection and implementation of testing tools and frameworksAgile Methodology IntegrationAdapt system test processes to support Agile/Scrum development methodologiesImplement shift-left testing practices and continuous testing approachesFacilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and quality-focused ceremoniesEstablish Definition of Done criteria and quality standards within Agile frameworksCoach teams on Agile testing best practices and cross-functional collaborationAI Integration & InnovationLeverage AI tools for test case generation, test data creation, and defect predictionImplement AI-driven test optimization and intelligent test selectionExplore machine learning approaches for anomaly detection in testingUtilize AI for test result analysis, pattern recognition, and quality insightsStay current with AI testing tools and emerging technologies in quality assuranceQualificationsExperience & Leadership8+ years of QA/testing experience with 4+ years in management rolesProven track record of building system test organizations from early-stage maturityDegree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldExperience managing testing across multiple domains (hardware, software, firmware, systems)Strong background in process development and organizational transformationTechnical ExpertiseDeep understanding of testing methodologies for hardware, software, and firmwareHands-on experience with test automation frameworks and scripting languages including Python.Proficiency with Jira for project management, defect tracking, and workflow automationExperience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practicesKnowledge of various testing tools (functional, performance, security, hardware validation)Methodological KnowledgeStrong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and Agile testing practicesExperience with risk-based testing, exploratory testing, and determining test requirements for undocumented design outputsKnowledge of quality standards and regulatory requirements for integrated systemsUnderstanding of software development lifecycle and hardware development processesAI & InnovationExperience implementing AI tools in testing environmentsKnowledge of machine learning
