Traffic Design Engineer

to support our

Southeast Region

located in

Miami or Fort Lauderdale, FL . To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. What you’ll be doing: Prepare technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studies Manage the development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, and technical report writing Design traffic signal plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations Develop temporary traffic control plans (TMP), signing, and pavement marking plans Create Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design plans Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings, and engineering reports Supervise and mentor junior engineers Attend project meetings with clients Manage project budgets to meet financial metrics Engage in business development activities What you need to have: BS in Civil Engineering 3 - 6 years of traffic engineering experience FL PE license is required PTOE certification is preferred Membership and involvement in transportation industry organizations such as WTS, ASCE, and ITE is beneficial Knowledge in transportation planning, corridor analysis, DOT programs, public involvement, safety and access, pedestrian and bicycle planning, multimodal planning, and traffic operations Familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD (OpenRoads/InRoads) Knowledge of DOT standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO guidelines Proficiency in traffic analysis software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection, HCS Self-motivated with minimal oversight Effective communication skills, both oral and written Willingness to develop and maintain client relationships Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) Why Volkert?
