They will be responsible for effectively advancing the Society’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. The IDSA is advancing infectious diseases research, education, and care by leading nationally and globally in advocacy, communication and by publishing and presenting the highest quality research in its meetings and journals. The past century has been a relentless march of positive progress in health outcomes for humanity — with lifespans growing, survivability of devastating diseases increasing, and some of the worst diseases eradicated entirely. For more than 60 years, IDSA has been a leading force in that progress — by bringing together ID professionals to discuss the pathogenesis, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, the attributes of microbes, specific immune reactions, and the most vexing epidemiological dilemmas.

IDSA is a large and growing Society whose 13,000-plus members represent the diversity and vibrancy of the field. IDSA members include practicing clinicians who provide direct patient care, scientists and researchers in the academic setting, public health officials, hospital epidemiologists, people working in industry, and ID specialists working in many other settings. IDSA members work across the United States and in nearly 100 other countries on six different continents around the world.
