Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Manager Software Engineering 2. This position is located in Roy, UT; Colorado Springs, CO; or Huntsville, AL. Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance type: Secret. Travel: Yes, up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities are split between functional management (approximately 20%) and technical engineering (approximately 80%).

Responsibilities

  • Assess staffing needs and work with team leads to address current and projected requirements.
  • Support recruitment activities, including creating requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to set personal, program, and functional goals and perform evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates.
  • Provide career development guidance, mentoring, and disciplinary support as needed.
  • Develop training plans based on program and subordinate needs.
  • Perform functional management activities while also contributing to the program\'s technical work.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Data visualization: make large dataset visualizations accessible to non-engineers.
  • Data transformation: collaborate with data scientists to develop software for interpreting data relationships and ontologies.
  • Develop software for analytics tools to analyze complex statistical and machine learning models for predictive and prescriptive insights.
  • Interface with requirements and derive design in a model-based systems engineering environment; derive and allocate requirements into detailed design.
  • Design, develop, and test displays, controls, and functionality; develop simulation software for data analysis.
  • Develop and implement AI algorithms to enable data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain databases to store complex data and relationships.
  • Collaborate with Systems and Quality Engineers to ensure software requirements are met and develop dashboards and other software solutions.
  • Perform software peer reviews, version control, automated tests, CI/CD in accordance with DevSecOps practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • US Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance (investigation date within the last 6 years)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Special Program Access
  • 1 year of experience leading projects and interfacing with customers
  • Experience developing semantic data ontologies
  • Experience with statistics, sampling techniques, survey design, and precision measures
  • Experience with programming languages, statistical packages, and computer-based data systems
  • Experience working with large datasets

  • Strong written and oral communication skills for reports and documentation

Salary and Schedule

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,100.00 – $224,000.00. Final offer depends on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Overtime, shift differentials, and discretionary bonuses may be available. Long-term incentives may apply for VP/Director levels. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company holidays, and PTO.

Work schedule is a 9/80 model: nine-hour days Monday through Thursday with every other Friday off.
