Senior Cloud Solution Architect
to join our Federal organization. The Microsoft Federal organization addresses the unique mission, legal/regulatory requirements, and procurement rules and processes of the United States Government (USG). Microsoft Federal is committed to ensuring its resources including appropriately qualified, experienced, and certified personnel (with necessary security clearances or otherwise) are available as needed to meet USG evolving needs. Microsoft Federal personnel can expect to serve in various roles to meet evolving USG needs, regardless of segment Civilian, Defense, or intelligence community. Hello and welcome to a role that involves customer engagement, cloud strategy, and solution architecture within the Federal context, with focus on delivering secure, resilient, and AI-enabled cloud solutions that align with Microsoft value propositions. Responsibilities Operates according to required operational excellence and proven practice standards throughout all sales stages/activities/tools of record (e.g., pipeline updates, time tracking). Collaborates across Microsoft and customer/partner teams through on-strategy delivery to achieve customer/partner objectives and increase customer/partner satisfaction. Proactively manages business and technical risks, adapts methodology and applies governance principles to identify, communicate, and minimize business and technical risks. Executes work in compliance with industry and Microsoft guidelines and procedures. Continuously prioritizes among competing demands in their work and identifies where impact occurs with customers, ensuring alignment with business priorities and goals. Delivers solutions in line with company methodologies (e.g., value-based deliverables [VBDs], advice, training, technical validation), ensuring proven practices and patterns are followed to prepare customers for operational readiness and achievement of their business goals and targets. Leverages change management practices to help the customer deploy for long-term organizational adoption to increase customer satisfaction and drive consumption/usage. Guides customers/partners towards a well-architected (secure, resilient, AI-enabled), and cost- and performance-optimized solution to increase retention and expansion opportunities. Provides feedback to Unified Delivery Team on VBDs to refine content. Proactively identifies new opportunities for Consumption, Usage & Unified expansion (especially Enhanced Solutions) at scale based on business value to customer/partner and clear understanding of the Microsoft value proposition for supported platforms to empower cloud success and drive AI innovation. Listens to and challenges customers/partners to advocate for alternative architectures/solutions that shape and/or enhance customer requirements. Identifies and evaluates industry trends, gathers customer/partner insights, and maps existing architecture and digital transformation solutions to customer/partner business outcomes. Captures opportunities in appropriate systems, processes, and tools, working across the organization to implement opportunities aligned with Microsoft's Customer Engagement Model. Identifies, escalates, and mitigates blockers using appropriate tools to accelerate solution deployment, value realization and usage/consumption. Applies knowledge to architecture or support projects to meet business and IT requirements and resolve constraints. Customer Centricity
Proactively acts as the voice of the customer/partner, sharing ideas, feedback, insights, success stories and input with Engineering teams, Product Offerings teams and internal communities. Identifies feedback patterns to develop strategic insights and presents business cases to program managers to influence product roadmaps and prioritization. Translates customer/partner problems into industry solutions aligned with Microsoft product and platform strategy, and explains how they meet outcomes and ROI goals. Helps customer adopt and use cross-solution area Microsoft strategies. Builds relationships with technical decision makers and engages C-level stakeholders as needed to bridge security, compliance, and risk requirements. Drives self and others to focus on customer/partner experience, defining conditions of success and proactively addressing dissatisfaction and unmet needs to improve value realization and transformation acceleration. Partner Specialization
Identifies and prioritizes opportunities aligned with revenue goals, guiding partners and sales teams through proof of concept and technical pre-sales support. Collaborates with GPS to translate opportunities into action and guides partners in developing repeatable offerings and solutions. Technical Leadership
Leverages market insights to drive up-skilling and accreditation, mentors team members, identifies gaps, and contributes to Microsofts frameworks. Leads virtual teams and engages external audiences to elevate Microsoft solutions and contribute to IP development.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 4+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, IT consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR equivalent experience 4+ years of success in consultative/complex technical sales and deployment projects, architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of cloud-based applications
Security/Legal
Active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain) and ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements. Includes clearance verification and periodic Microsoft Cloud background checks. Citizenship verification required as per legal restrictions.
Education
Bachelor's or Masters degree in relevant fields with 8+ years (Bachelors path) or 6+ years (Masters path) of related experience; technical certifications in cloud and related domains are preferred.
Experience
4+ years in a customer-facing role and 4+ years on technical projects; prior consulting/architecture experience in software/ professional services is desirable; knowledge of Azure cloud services and competitive cloud platforms.
Technical
Broad and deep cloud/data/AI experience including AI services, data platforms, SQL/NoSQL, data governance, large-scale environments, machine learning, Azure OpenAI, and related tools.
Education/Certifications
Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, Google) and professional cloud certifications in relevant technologies are preferred.
Benefits and Compensation
The typical base pay range for this role is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year across the U.S. Some locations have different ranges.
