Overview

Assistant Managers support the Store Manager in all areas outlined below and are responsible for Primary Duties when the Store Manager is not present. Store Managers are responsible for hiring, developing and leading all store associates while ensuring optimal customer experiences, overseeing store operations, and maintaining brand standards.

Primary Duties

30% Brand: Provide supervision and support the direction of associates’ daily goals to deliver an exceptional client experience, maximize sales/KPIs, and drive customer loyalty in assigned stores. Ensure brand standards are met (merchandising, POGs, marketing, back rooms, dress code, etc.). Act as main point of contact to resolve customer issues. Analyze store trends and anticipate customer demands.

30% People: Engage, train and develop teams to achieve positive results. Recruit to build a network of candidates or fill positions as required. Identify strengths and opportunities for each associate and address through coaching or counseling. Enforce company policies and expectations. Maintain positive associate relations, communicate relevant information, build relationships with Store Manager peers, and communicate with AM/DM. Foster diversity, inclusion and belonging.

30% Operations: Ensure execution of company processes through training, management, analysis and continuous improvement. Utilize digital strategies such as Omni-channel fulfillment (SFS/SDD/BOPIS).

Store operations: Manage inventory through ordering and shipment processing. Manage payroll hours and create schedules to meet business needs. Ensure correct execution of opening and closing procedures. Follow through on company directives and projects.

10% Safety/Loss Prevention: Maintain a safe store environment; follow and enforce policies. Protect assets by adhering to inventory and cash control procedures related to shrink, damages, banking, etc. Use available reporting and tools. Ensure HAZMAT training and execution compliance where applicable.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent

Must be 18 years of age or older

Minimum 3+ years retail sales/customer service experience preferred

At least 1+ year(s) prior management experience preferred

Ability to lead or support a team to meet business objectives

Effective communication with team and management

Scheduling availability to meet the needs of the business

Cosmetology license desirable, but not required

Physical exertion typical of retail work: standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting moderately heavy items; may need to work in other stores periodically.

Normal safety precautions in a retail environment; adequately lit and ventilated workspace.
