Summer Recreation Position

Alameda is an island city of 78,000 located next to the city of Oakland and offers a full-service municipal recreation program. Neighborhood recreation programs are offered at ten locations throughout the city. Alameda's Aquatic Program, conducted at Emma Hood and Encinal Swim Centers, is open to children and adults. Dynamic, ethical, and enthusiastic individuals who share our values are encouraged to apply! Summer Recreation positions are generally scheduled to work beginning of June through September. HOURLY RATES AQUATICS LIFEGUARD ($18.00 - $20.36) AQUATIC INSTRUCTOR ($18.45 - $20.87) AQUATIC SPECIALIST ($20.83 - $25.32) Aquatics staff support all aspects of operating ARPD's year-round aquatics program, which includes swim lessons, aquatic camps, lifeguard training, and special events. Swim lessons are offered throughout the year for all ages and skill levels at both Encinal Swim Center and Emma Hood Swim Center, with weekday and weekend options available. Seasonal aquatic camps are held during school breaks and holidays, offering themed water activities and team-building fun. Lifeguard certification courses are scheduled regularly to train new staff and support community safety. Both swim centers also host a variety of special events, such as themed pool parties, movie nights, and community swim days. Public and lap swim hours are available during the day and evening, providing flexible access for all swimmers. Who We Are Looking For:

Presentation & Professionalism Wear the required uniform and maintain a neat appearance. Represent ARPD in a professional and friendly manner to the public. 8. Commitment to Growth Take part in staff development sessions, workshops, and in-service training. Strive to improve swimming, leadership, and customer service skills. A recent T.B. (tuberculosis) test or agreement to get tested as a condition of being hired. SELECTION PROCESS: To be considered, candidates must submit a completed City of Alameda Job Application form online. Part-time positions with the City of Alameda may be eligible for limited benefits and are considered "at-will." Part-time employment is at the discretion of the hiring department.
