Position Summary The Document Control Specialist is responsible for managing the creation, revision, distribution, and archiving of controlled documents within our manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all documentationranging from work instructions and quality procedures to engineering drawings and formsis up-to-date, accessible, and compliant with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities Maintain and administer the document control system (digital and hard copy). Review, edit, and format-controlled documents (SOPs, work instructions, quality forms, etc.). Assign document numbers, revision levels, and maintain version control. Ensure timely routing of documents for review, approval, and release. Archive obsolete documents and ensure controlled distribution of current versions. Support audits (internal, customer, third-party) by providing requested documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Production, Quality, Sales, Finance, Procurement) to ensure documentation reflects actual practices. Train users on document control procedures and systems. Assist with records retention, including scanning, filing, and indexing quality records. QualificationsRequired:
High school diploma or GED 2+ years of experience in a document control, administrative, or quality support role in a manufacturing environment Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality management systems Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong attention to detail and organization skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Preferred:
Associate degree or coursework in Business, Quality, or related field Experience with document control software (e.g., SharePoint, MasterControl, Arena, or similar) Knowledge of engineering documentation (e.g., Bills of Materials, Drawings, Change Orders)
