Overview Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) believes that people are at the center of our work and the communities we serve. As the organization advances its strategic plan and grows, People and Workplace Culture (Human Resources) plays a critical role in moving the mission forward. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of People and Workplace Culture (AVPPWC), the Senior Director of People and Workplace Culture (PWC) oversees a wide array of HR initiatives, projects, and communications delegated by the AVPPWC in support of the college\'s strategic priorities. The Senior Director manages the administrative operations of the AVP\'s office and serves as a key point of contact for internal and external campus partners and stakeholders working with the AVP. The role is collaborative, client-focused, and solution-oriented, with a track record of designing and delivering customer-focused services modeled on best practices. The Senior Director serves as a mentor, expert, business partner, and strategic advisor to ensure alignment of policies, processes, technology, and service quality. This position is a member of the PWC leadership team and collaborates with the AVPPWC, SLCC Leadership team, staff, and campus partners to advance strategic, administrative, and operational excellence initiatives. The Senior Director will oversee the supervision and operations of specific PWC teams such as employee relations, staff development, benefits, employment, compensation, and recruiting. This role champions employees, understands compliance, law, and equity, and partners with the AVPPWC and other PWC team members to advance strategic goals. The individual will be deeply dedicated to employee well-being and the value of people and culture at SLCC. This position is at will.

Anticipated Start Date & Application Anticipated Start Date is September 16, 2025 and is anticipated to end by July 31, 2026. This posting is for external and internal candidates to apply. Responsibilities

Operations (Budget, Data, Policy, Systems, Strategy): Oversees the daily administrative operations for the office of the AVP, including assisting with leadership oversight for the office and PWC staff.

Collaborates with the AVP in designing and regularly assessing and updating the PWC vision, goals, and strategic plan.

Ensures PWC staff understands and supports the vision, mission, and objectives.

Works closely with PWC leaders to drive deliberate action plans at appropriate levels. Collaborates with the AVP, oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of PWC projects, priorities, initiatives, and goals.

Directs a process of organizational planning and people development that evaluates structure and human capital forecasting internally and across the college. Assists college leadership in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to People and Workplace Culture (Human Resources).

Recommends, develops, and executes new approaches, policies, and procedures relating to continuous improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.

Leadership and Management of HR Strategic Initiatives and Projects: Serves as key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders working with the AVP, particularly on the development and execution of the PWC strategic plan and associated projects designed to advance the goals, objectives, and priorities of the AVP\'s office.

Leads and manages high-priority initiatives and projects for Employee Relations, Equal Opportunity, Title IX, and Engagement.

Conducts research, analyzes findings, and develops recommendations and comprehensive implementation plans to ensure projects and related communication and training plans are effectively managed and foster high engagement by involving appropriate PWC staff, campus partners, and stakeholders.

Ensures meetings and activities are designed to advance the AVP\'s goals and objectives.

Participates in senior-level discussions and decision making, presenting relevant information, tracking deliberations, decisions, and action plans, and drafting reports, communications, and other materials including those for the Cabinet and other senior leaders.

Provides the AVP with timely updates on progress of PWC initiatives, including metrics and HR data analytics and visualization reports.

Models strong leadership and management practices to develop others, maintaining a big-picture perspective and linking programs, activities, and communications to support a cohesive employee experience. Represents PWC in the AVP\'s absence.

Leads with a collaborative, customer-service oriented, and effective lens to the work.

Communications (Internal/External PWC Presence): Develops and leads communication planning for Employee Relations, Equal Opportunity, Title IX, and Engagement, collaborating with the PWC leadership team and campus partners to create and implement strategic communications initiatives using multiple mediums.

Ensures all communications align with AVP priorities.

Engages with campus partners to promote transparency and develop highly effective, collaborative working relationships in support of PWC culture focused on operational excellence. Develops presentations, remarks, correspondence, and other communications for PWC, including meeting materials for key AVP lead meetings, workgroups, and projects.

Coordinates informative employee communications to keep employees and management informed about initiatives.

Oversees and coordinates the PWC website and other online presence.

Partnerships and Collaboration: Develops processes and builds partnerships to foster and support people and workplace initiatives, particularly around the full employee lifecycle at SLCC.

Builds critical relationships with peers and partners to ensure programs are supportive, inclusive, and aligned with the College’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Superior project management, strategic planning, and change management experience.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills.

Results-driven with a strong customer service and user-focused orientation.

Experience capturing HR/People metrics and producing analytics for managerial use in employee decisions.

Ability to understand and monitor key performance metrics.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a wide range of campus constituents to achieve PWC objectives.

Experience with agile, innovative, and solutions-focused mindset; able to solve complex PWC problems.

High professionalism, integrity, and ethics; exercise sound judgment and discretion with confidential matters.

Strong knowledge of federal and state employment, civil rights, and equal opportunity laws.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional publications and governmental regulations; knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management principles.

Ability to make administrative decisions, refine operations, formulate policy, and develop new strategies.

Knowledge of Employee Relations, Equal Opportunity, Title IX, and Employee Engagement in a higher education environment.

Ability to work with diverse groups across the College and community, including individuals with disabilities.

Master\'s degree with a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience is required.

Experience designing, developing, and implementing HR programs, policies, and practices.

Experience in project planning, development, and assessment of organizational systems.

Experience managing budgets, organizational and HR departmental operations.

Strong supervisory experience in Employee Relations, Equal Opportunity, Title IX, and/or Employee Engagement in a higher education environment.

Master\'s degree in human resources management, psychology, organizational development, or related discipline.

More than two years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience.

HR SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification strongly preferred.

Experience leading organizational change initiatives and championing change.

Experience with HR/People technology, including implementation of an HRIS.

Training or teaching experience is preferred.
