About the Role

The Company is in search of a Chief Operating Officer to play a pivotal role in the modernization and expansion of its operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating the board-level growth strategy into tangible results, with a focus on safe and efficient production, cost performance, and community partnerships. Key responsibilities include driving the company's vision, optimizing production flow, engineering cost leadership, championing a zero-incident culture, and safeguarding the environment. The COO will also be tasked with owning the P&L, leveraging data for continuous improvement, and developing a strong leadership team.

Applicants for the COO position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, business administration, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years' progressive leadership experience in surface coal mining. A deep knowledge of coal preparation, maintenance, and MSHA compliance is essential, as is a proven track record in budgeting, asset optimization, and data-driven continuous improvement. The role requires exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, and a preference is given to candidates with an MBA or similar advanced degree, as well as Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent process-improvement certification. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading reclamation or large-scale environmental projects and be prepared to take on a high-impact role that directly influences operational excellence, community value, and employee safety.
