Position Overview

This role involves interviewing patients or their representatives to gather essential personal, financial, and demographic details. You will prepare patient records and enter data into computer systems, verify insurance coverage, and ensure all required forms are completed and signed. Collecting co-payments, deductibles, and other payments accurately is a key responsibility, along with balancing daily payment sheets and routing patient information to relevant departments. A strong commitment to excellence and adherence to departmental standards is expected.

Key Responsibilities Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including compliance with unit-based safety and infection control protocols. Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills when interacting with coworkers, staff, patients, physicians, and the public. Conduct thorough interviews to collect complete patient information, obtain necessary signatures, insurance details, and financial data to safeguard organizational reimbursement. Perform special duties as assigned to support departmental needs. Assume cashiering duties during after-hours and weekends. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits promptly, securing pre-authorizations from third-party payers as required. Ensure medical necessity verification aligns with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) standards and communicate coverage information effectively to patients. Notify patients of any deposits or deductibles required prior to registration and provide cost estimates upon request. Ensure patients are prepared for routine registration procedures, escort them to appropriate service areas, and address their questions and concerns. Qualifications

Minimum of one year experience in computer data entry. At least one year of customer service experience working with patients or customers. Preferred: One year of healthcare insurance verification experience. Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology. Education

High school diploma or GED required.

All new hires must successfully complete a physical evaluation, urine drug screen, and pre-employment background checks prior to starting work.

This position is located in a regional healthcare setting within the Pacific Southwest region of the United States.
