The Manager of Technology Operations provides critical hands-on support and expertise in the implementation and management of technology systems and services across the school district. This position works closely with the Director of Technology to ensure that technology effectively supports instructional goals, administrative operations, and the overall mission of the district. The Manager plays a key role in overseeing daily technology operations and contributing significantly to the development of a robust, secure, and innovative technology environment for students, faculty, and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Director of Technology in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the district's long-range technology plan, ensuring alignment with educational and administrative objectives. Coordinates the support technicians and assigns and directs staff to meet technology needs, priorities, and timelines, ensuring balanced workloads. Contributes to the vision, goals, and strategic initiatives for district-wide technology, including infrastructure, hardware, software, and professional development. Participates in various district committees and meetings to communicate technology plans, gather feedback, and support technology integration efforts. Researches and evaluates emerging technologies, providing recommendations for solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency. Assists the Director in overseeing the daily operations of the technology department, including network management, server administration, telecommunications, and end-user support. Ensures the availability, stability, and security of all network components, systems, and data in accordance with district policies. Develops and implements procedures for proactive maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of district technology. Coordinates and manages technology-related projects, including system migrations, hardware deployments, and software implementations, utilizing effective project management methodologies as directed by the Director. Administers and optimizes the district's help desk/ticketing system, ensuring timely and effective resolution of technology issues. Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation for technology systems, policies, and procedures. Provides technical guidance to team members, assisting in the resolution of complex technical issues. Assists in the procurement process for technology equipment, software, and services, ensuring consistency with district technology objectives and purchasing guidelines. Manages the system-wide inventory of technology assets, including hardware and software licenses. Monitors technology budget expenditures, ensuring fiscal practices align with district policies, and provides input for budget planning. Assists in researching outside funding opportunities and grants to enhance technology. Collaborates with instructional and administrative staff to identify technology needs and provide appropriate solutions and support. Coordinates technical support for district initiatives, including new curriculum implementations, professional learning, and state testing. Provides training and professional development to district staff on the effective use of technology tools and applications. Ensures that technology use policies are communicated and adhered to across the district. Implements and monitors cybersecurity measures to protect district data and systems from threats under the direction of the Director. Develops and maintains disaster recovery and data backup plans to ensure business continuity. Investigates and responds to security incidents, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken. Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations regarding data privacy and security. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
Experience:
3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, with at least 2 years in a lead or project management role, preferably within a K-12 educational setting. Demonstrated experience with network infrastructure (managed switches, VLANs, enterprise wireless networks), server administration (Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policies), and telecommunications systems. Experience managing a technology help desk/ticketing system. Proven experience with project management in a technology environment. Familiarity with educational technology tools, learning management systems (LMS), student information systems (SIS), and Google Workspace for Education. Education:
2 or 4 year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Educational Technology, Education, or a closely related field preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, Google Certified Educator, Google Cloud) preferred. Specific Skills:
Strong understanding of current networking standards, operating systems, data management, and cybersecurity best practices. Excellent technical leadership and team collaboration skills. Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a systematic approach to troubleshooting. Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and a rapidly changing environment. Commitment to providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and vendors. Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to technology in education (e.g., E-Rate, CIPA, FERPA).

Compensation:
