The Product and Business Engineering organization manages Stripe's core financial products, develops tools for efficient payment acceptance and risk management, and creates solutions that empower businesses to optimize their revenue operations. Within this organization, we are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead one of our high-impact frontend-focused teams: Payins Dashboard or Web Elements. Payins Dashboard: Our team oversees high-traffic surfaces merchants interact with in the Stripe Dashboard. We are dedicated to delivering an exceptional user experience through craftsmanship, enabling users to focus on growing their business. You will lead a team of frontend engineers to further the user journey of managing a payment over its lifecycle. Web Elements: We build highly optimized, delightful checkout experiences. The team is responsible for Stripe’s Web Elements, a suite of rich, customizable UI components that enable complex checkout flows with simple integration. As an engineering manager, you’ll lead a team focused on building high-quality UIs and data-driven optimizations for our payment surfaces.

What you’ll do

Responsibilities

Lead engineering and design processes, coach and mentor your team as they build innovative, user-facing solutions. Collaborate with product, design, infrastructure, marketing, and operations to align projects and objectives, and shape the team’s strategy and roadmap. Uphold high engineering standards for frontend craftsmanship, user experience, and performance; ensure consistency across codebases and implement best practices. Own problems end-to-end by managing diverse systems and technologies; continuously optimize efficiency and user experience. Recruit top engineering talent in partnership with Stripe’s recruiting team to build a diverse, high-performing team. Support your team’s career growth with insights and development opportunities aligned to their goals.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. Minimum Requirements

5+ years of engineering management experience, directly managing and growing teams of 5+ engineers focused on building and shipping products at scale. 10+ years of full-time software development experience with a strong background in full-stack or frontend web development. Experience leading teams that have shipped and maintained critical user-facing products. Strong technical proficiency to engage with engineers on architecture and product design, with a focus on modern web technologies, performance, and user experience. Experience building extensible software solutions that scale to different user needs, with empathy for users and a commitment to exceptional UX. Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of tackling complex challenges and ambiguity. Commitment to a supportive, feedback-driven, and challenging work environment. Autonomy and entrepreneurial mindset, eager to take responsibility and drive initiatives forward.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong product and design sense with the ability to find elegant solutions to complex problems. Experience thriving in cross-functional environments, with rigorous thinking, effective decision-making, and cross-team relationship-building. Experience building and leading a distributed team across multiple locations and time zones. Experience with data-driven product development and running frontend experiments.

In-office expectations

Office participation expectations vary by location and role. Some sites require substantial in-office presence; hiring managers will discuss specifics with you. This approach balances in-person collaboration with flexibility where possible.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $236,000 - $354,000. For roles with variable components, ranges may represent On Target Earnings. The salary range may be narrowed during the interview process based on experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants outside the US may request the salary range for their location during the interview process. Additional benefits may include equity, company bonus or sales commissions, 401(k), medical/dental/vision benefits, and wellness stipends.
