Capital Projects Coordinators (CPCs)
are a critical member of the Project Development Group within the Planning & Capital Development (PCD) of Seattle Parks and Recreation. SPR manages 6,414 acres of park land, including more than 485 parks and open spaces with facilities such as community centers, pools, gardens, environmental learning centers, athletic fields, trails and more. The CPC position is part of a team of project managers who guide project development and implementation, coordinate with SPR divisions, other city entities, and community partners, and deliver projects within scope, budget and schedule. Responsibilities
Coordinate the planning, design and construction processes for capital improvement projects for SPR facilities. Projects are overseen from initial phases through completion. Some projects may have a planner leading community outreach and early design. Participate in early planning to build a strong project team for ongoing contribution throughout the project. Manage multiple projects at once in various phases of planning, design and construction. Ensure adherence to approved scope of work; prepare and update budgets and schedules for all assigned projects. Utilize project management software, E-Builder/Procore, and MS Office/MS Project for multiple processes. Follow City of Seattle guidelines to select design consultants; negotiate, prepare and administer consultant contracts. Coordinate design reviews with consultant teams and internal staff from early design through bid documents. Scope out and obtain required supplemental documents and reports such as surveys, environmental reviews, geotechnical reports, wetland delineations, SEPA checklists, stormwater testing, and historical surveys. Identify necessary permits and facilitate the permitting process. Coordinate bidding and contract awards. Administer the construction process and monitor project closeout. Ensure objectives are met and projects are constructed to Parks Department standards. Serve as the departmental representative with other City departments, outside agencies, special interest groups, and the public to achieve project goals and meet regulations. Projects can be highly visible with diverse stakeholder input; respond to information requests, provide project updates, and maintain timely communication with the project team and managers. Work with the Public Information Officer to execute public outreach, incorporate Race and Social Justice Initiatives, update websites, and inform constituents. Lead by example and hold the design team accountable within their areas of expertise. Qualifications
Requires a minimum of four years of project or construction management or related experience and a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Business Administration or related field (or an equivalent combination of education and/or training and/or experience). Successful candidates will demonstrate
Three years of computer use with competent skills in Adobe products, project management software and social media; ability to learn project management software for construction management; experience with Procore is a plus. A professional license in one of the listed disciplines. Three years of public outreach and engagement experience. Three years of construction management experience on public works projects in a governmental setting. Experience with alternative project delivery methods, especially GCCM and Design Build. Six years or more of project management for complex public buildings. Strong familiarity with construction methods and contracting. Proactive problem solving and ability to work independently. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and work with a diverse customer base. Proficiency with social media outlets, Adobe programs, and Microsoft Project. Ability to communicate and work effectively within a multicultural workforce. A positive attitude and enjoyment of working in a team-oriented environment. Salary and benefits
The full salary range for this position is $61.94 - $72.26 hourly. This position is classified as a Capital Projects Coordinator, Senior and is represented by Protec 17 Professional Unit.
