ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE Experts of operations, process and efficiency who enable a consistent guest experience by ensuring product is set, merchandised and available, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. General Merchandise and Food Sales leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for GM areas of the store. This team also leads inventory accuracy, merchandise setup and pricing for all store areas. They may also lead Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food-safe experience. Experts enable efficient delivery of merchandise to guests by owning pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.
Role summary As a General Merchandise Team Leader, you will lead a team to deliver department and store sales goals, guest engagement, and operational excellence. You will manage daily/weekly workloads, develop and coach hourly team members, and ensure safe, compliant operations.
Guest service fundamentals and building a guest-first culture on your team.
Retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategies.
Lead a team by planning workload to support priorities and drive process improvements.
Lead a team of hourly team members: interviewing, developing, coaching, evaluating and retaining talent.
Coach and train hourly team members to build a capable team under direction from your leader.
Typical responsibilities
Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including merchandising, pricing, displays, sampling and promotions.
Educate the team on procedures for organizing merchandise, managing stock levels, and maintaining sales floor areas, to support inventory and store profitability.
Assist with inventory accuracy, merchandise setup and pricing for all store areas; oversee fulfillment tasks when applicable.
Assign daily tasks to team members based on workload and guest traffic; align with weekly/monthly priorities.
Set clear goals and hold team members accountable; support efficient guest delivery and fulfillment processes when applicable.
Collaborate with all teams to identify priorities and ensure the store is guest-ready under leadership direction.

Basic qualifications and requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; age 18 or older.
Retail experience is preferred but not required.
Ability to lead and hold others accountable; communicate using multiple devices and scanners.
Work independently and as part of a team; manage workload and prioritize tasks.
Remain focused in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple tasks within timeframes; friendly and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
Access to all areas of the building to respond to issues; interpret instructions and reports; handle cash register operations as needed.
Ability to climb ladders, lift merchandise up to 44 pounds, and work in varying temperatures and conditions.
Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays; reliable attendance necessary.
