Payroll Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage and process weekly payroll for union workers. This role requires precise calculation of wages, overtime, shift differentials, and union benefits. The specialist will interpret and apply provisions of multiple Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and ensure compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws. Responsibilities
Process weekly payroll for union employees, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, overtime, shift differentials, and union benefits. Interpret and apply provisions of multiple CBAs, including wage rates, fringe benefits, dues, pension contributions, apprenticeship funds, and vacation/holiday pay. Prepare, reconcile, and submit reports to unions, trust funds, and government agencies, including certified payroll reports, union remittance reports, and prevailing wage compliance. Maintain payroll records in accordance with state/federal guidelines and union agreements. Ensure compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws such as the Davis-Bacon Act and the Service Contract Act. Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Project Managers to ensure accurate labor coding, job costing, and application of union requirements. Respond to employee and union inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, dues, and wage discrepancies. Support audits conducted by unions and government agencies. Continuously update knowledge of union rules, prevailing wage requirements, and payroll regulations. Essential Skills
35 years of payroll experience specific to union or construction payroll. Experience with certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance. Familiarity with multi-state payroll processing. Strong Excel skills, including proficiency in pivot tables and VLOOKUP, for reconciliations and reporting. Knowledge of the Davis-Bacon Act, Service Contract Act, and/or state-specific prevailing wage laws. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to interpret and apply complex contract language. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred. Proficiency in payroll processing, Microsoft Office, and payroll software. Experience with data entry and union environments. Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position, with working hours from Monday to Friday, either 7:30 am to 3:30 pm or 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. You will work closely with another Payroll Specialist and the accounting team. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
