JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Construction Accountant, you will play a critical role in the financial management of our companys construction operations. This role encompasses a wide range of general and project accounting responsibilities. Key duties include managing accounts receivable, performing recurring general ledger and job cost entries, asset accounting, WIP and overhead analysis, and financial reporting. Combining your existing general accounting knowledge with the specific training we will provide, you will become a subject matter expert for Procore, Sage, GCPay, and other platforms essential to our accounting processes.
To succeed in this position, you should bring a solid foundation in accounting principles, a basic understanding of construction accounting and job cost systems. You must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple accounting functions simultaneously.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage monthly job cost entries, general ledger postings, and recurring journal entries.
- Oversee accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections tracking, and customer account management.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly Work in Progress (WIP) and overhead reports.
- Track and analyze overhead budgets and cost allocations.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and present accurate financial reports to management.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules.
- Analyze budget variances and provide job cost insights to the project management team.
- Coordinate job setup and organization with the project team.
- Serve as an internal expert for Procore, Sage, GC Pay, and related systems; drive best practices and process improvement.
- Ensure clean and accurate data across all platforms.
- Provide financial insight and reports for assigned construction projects.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis as directed by accounting leadership.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in construction accounting.
- Strong knowledge of job cost accounting and construction contract financials.
- Experience with Sage Intacct, Procore, GC Pay, and other construction accounting platforms .
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Working Conditions:
- Office-based role with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
- Must be able to lift and carry documents or equipment up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Regular use of the telephone, email, and other communication tools.
- Must be able to work in our office on a 7 am-4 pm core schedule.
