The Cozy Taberna- Salem, OR Prep cook About: The Cozy Taberna is a social restaurant and concept with a shared plate experience. Offering a taste of Spain's influence brought to us by our Executive Chef Chris Robertson. Our goal is to create a memorable experience for our guests through food and beverage by expanding and indulging their palate. Located in the unique "Electric Alley" this cozy place will be a memorable experience whether our guests are joining us to celebrate a special occasion or a casual meal with friends. Responsibilities: Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning as directed by the culinary team. Assist in the production of mise en place to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations during service. Follow recipes and culinary techniques with precision to maintain the quality and consistency of dishes. Monitor inventory levels and communicate any shortages or discrepancies to kitchen management in a timely manner. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work stations, including proper storage of ingredients, utensils, and equipment. Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of perishable items. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely execution of orders and support overall kitchen operations. Assist with other tasks and duties as assigned by kitchen management or supervisors. Requirements: Previous experience as a prep cook or kitchen assistant in a fine dining restaurant or similar culinary environment preferred. Strong culinary skills and a passion for food with the ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately. Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation principles. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy objects, and withstand exposure to heat and humidity in a kitchen environment.
