The Liberal Arts and Sciences Advising Center is seeking a reliable, friendly, and detail-oriented Student Assistant to support daily operations and provide excellent service to students and staff. This role is ideal for students who enjoy helping others, are organized, and want to gain experience in a professional academic environment.

Job Summary A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties Student Employment Hours: 20-30 hours/week (30-40 hours/week during the summer and semester breaks) depending on employment status and enrolled hours.

Responsibilities: Working closely with the Senior Administrative Assistant to coordinate and ensure smooth office operations. Support includes Front-desk reception (answering phone calls, walk-in traffic, scheduling advising appointments). Customer Service (answer general inquiries relating to the College, WSU and other campus offices). Direct/refer students and guests to the proper college/school/university resources. General office support (preparing files for advising appointments, filing, creating new files, and other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned.)

Required Education High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements ***Must be a degree-bound student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences***

Must possess excellent communication skills, customer service skills and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Applicant must be able to type and alphabetize files quickly and accurately. Computer experience in a PC/Windows environment with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook). Previous office support experience preferred.

Will work around student's class schedule and arrange time off if needed during finals. Must be able to produce a social security card that has not been laminated or altered in any way.

Successful applicant needs to be able to work well with the public and others, attention to detail is a must. Should have a well-groomed appearance, positive attitude, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Applicant must possess good telephone, keyboarding, office skills and excellent written and oral English skills.

Preferred Qualifications Work Study Preferred.

Physical Requirements Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
