An opportunity is available for a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support two students with visual impairments during the 20252026 academic year near Schenectady, NY. This part-time, contract position will focus on fostering safe and independent travel skills within school and community settings, enhancing student confidence and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities: Provide specialized orientation and mobility instruction tailored to each students needs Collaborate with the special education team to integrate mobility goals into individualized education plans Conduct 10 one-hour sessions annually with a 6th-grade student Conduct 3 one-hour sessions monthly with an 11th-grade student Document progress and communicate effectively with students, families, and educational staff Qualifications: Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) Experience working with school-aged children is preferred Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams Background clearance and all required licensure up to date Position Details: Location: Near Schenectady, NY Position Type: Part-time contract Duration: September 11, 2025 June 24, 2026 Serving 6th and 11th grade students This role offers the chance to make a direct impact on student independence through specialized support.
