A Contract position is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Kent, WA. Key Responsibilities: Assess and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans for students with visual impairments. Provide direct instruction and support on safe travel techniques, use of assistive devices, and environmental awareness. Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to integrate mobility goals into students overall educational plans. Monitor and document student progress, adapting strategies as needed to meet evolving needs. Train staff and caregivers on orientation and mobility strategies to reinforce student learning. Qualifications: Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) or equivalent credentials. Experience working with K-12 students, particularly those with visual impairments. Strong understanding of techniques and tools used in orientation and mobility instruction. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and adapt to the needs of a school environment.
