A part-time opportunity is available for a qualified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support two students with visual impairments during the 20252026 academic year near Schenectady, NY. This contract position begins September 11, 2025, and concludes June 24, 2026, serving a high school setting.

The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below. Key Responsibilities: Provide specialized orientation and mobility instruction tailored to individual student needs. Deliver 10 one-hour sessions per year for one 6th-grade student. Conduct 3 one-hour sessions each month for one 11th-grade student. Collaborate closely with the special education team to promote students safe and independent travel skills in both school and community contexts. Utilize assessment data and student feedback to adapt and improve instructional strategies. Desired Qualifications: Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS). Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in educational environments. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and school staff. Current background clearance and any required licensure as per state regulations. Location: Near Schenectady, NY, serving students in a school environment.
