A full-time special education teaching opportunity is available for the 2025-2026 school year, serving students in grades K-8 within a dynamic educational environment in the Rockford, IL area. This contract position begins in late July or early August 2025, aligning with the start of professional development sessions, and concludes in early June 2026. The ideal candidate will support approximately 90 students across two academies, providing specialized instruction and related services.

Key Responsibilities: Deliver direct special education services based on individual IEPs, focusing primarily on pull-out instruction with some push-in support. Participate fully in IEP meetings, particularly dedicating Thursdays to these collaborative sessions. Monitor and report student progress regularly. Foster strong communication with parents, general education teachers, and other school staff. Manage caseloads effectively, with some case management duties potentially shared among staff. Collaborate with 1:1 aides supporting students with more intensive needs. Qualifications and Experience: Possession of a Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement is required. Experience in special education is preferred but not mandatory; comprehensive training will be provided to support new educators. Comfort working in a resource classroom setting with diverse student needs. Strong organizational and communication skills to manage case files and collaborate with families and staff. Additional Information: The school day runs from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of part-time hours depending on the candidate. Technology resources will be provided to support instructional and administrative tasks. The position is designed to provide flexible collaboration and support within a resource classroom model.
