An educational role is available for a Special Education Teacher to serve students in a K-8 setting within a full-time contract from late July/early August 2025 through early June 2026. This position focuses on delivering specialized instruction and support catering to diverse learning needs across multiple grade bands within the Rockford, IL area.

Facilitate effective communication with parents, general education teachers, and support staff. Manage caseloads of up to approximately 90 students collectively across academies, ensuring appropriate educational support. Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings, primarily dedicating Thursdays to this purpose. Collaborate with paraeducators and 1:1 aides to enhance instructional delivery and student support. Qualifications and Experience: Possession of a Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement. Experience in special education is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for motivated candidates. Ability to effectively manage caseloads and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication skills for parent and staff engagement. Comfort working within both resource and inclusive classroom settings. Schedule and Location: Full-time hours, ideally Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Flexibility for part-time considered based on candidates availability. Dedicated Thursdays at Galapagos to support ongoing IEP requirements. Positions will be assigned to either the Lower or Upper Academy of the school. Benefits and Support: Provision of technology equipment to facilitate instructional and administrative duties. Working with a student population receiving varied levels of IEP and 504 plan services. Support from classroom aides, including 1:1 aides, to enhance instructional delivery.
