A K-8 special education teaching opportunity is available in the Rockford, IL area for the 2025-2026 school year. This full-time contract position begins in late July to early August 2025, in time for the start-of-year professional development, and extends through mid-June 2026. This role involves providing special education resource services primarily through pull-out instruction, with some push-in support possible. The caseload includes nearly 90 students across lower and upper academies who have IEPs and 504 plans, served according to their needs and grade bands. The school day runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with Thursdays dedicated full-time to attending IEP meetings to ensure comprehensive student support. Key responsibilities include: Delivering direct instruction and services to students in compliance with their IEP goals Monitoring and reporting student progress regularly Communicating effectively with parents and collaborating with general education teachers Managing some case-related duties, which may be shared with other staff members Utilizing provided technology to facilitate instructional and communication tasks Qualifications for this position include: Possession of a Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement Experience in special education is preferred but not mandatory, as training is available for new educators Ability to work with students with a variety of needs and coordinate with paraeducators and 1:1 aides Benefits include access to classroom technology and supportive resources to enhance teaching effectiveness.
