Responsibilities: Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events Facilitate clear communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and teachers, staff, and peers Collaborate with teachers and support staff to accommodate individual student needs Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions Participate in IEP meetings and other student-related discussions as required Qualifications: Proficiency in American Sign Language and English, with strong interpreting skills Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings preferred Understanding of Deaf culture and educational accommodations for students with hearing impairments Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to different classroom environments Commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting standards Location: Aurora, Illinois (onsite) This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student learning by bridging communication gaps.
