This opportunity is for a Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support in a high school setting. The role requires in-person work primarily based in Hampshire, Illinois, with potential assignments in surrounding areas. The contract runs from August 4, 2025, through June 6, 2026, with weekly hours ranging from 32.5 to 35, depending on the school schedule.
Key Qualifications:
Valid ISBE approval as a Sign Language Interpreter is required
Candidates with a 3.0 or higher on the EIPA may qualify for temporary approval
Experience working in educational settings preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in person effectively in a team environment
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate effective communication for deaf or hard-of-hearing students during classes and school activities
Interpret spoken English to American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa in real-time
Collaborate with educators and staff to support student learning and engagement
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
Adapt to varying classroom environments and student needs
Location: Hampshire, IL, with assignments possibly in nearby communities
