Key Responsibilities: Assess and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans tailored to students needs Instruct students on the use of mobility aids, including canes and electronic travel devices Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to integrate mobility goals into the educational setting Provide training on safe navigation in both school and community environments Monitor progress regularly and adjust mobility strategies accordingly Desired Qualifications: Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS or equivalent) Experience working with K-12 students, preferably within a school environment Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams Ability to deliver tailored instruction that fosters student independence and confidence Knowledge of assistive technology related to orientation and mobility Location:Amherst, MA This role offers the chance to positively impact students requiring specialized support in their educational settings.
