This opportunity is for Special Education Teachers to support students in both elementary and high school settings in Newport, NC. These full-time, on-site positions are contract-based for the 2025-2026 school year, running from August 18th through May 22nd, with hours from 8:00 AM to 2:45 PM.
All the relevant skills, qualifications and experience that a successful applicant will need are listed in the following description. Responsibilities include managing specialized classrooms tailored to students with diverse and intensive needs. One position involves leading a self-contained adaptive classroom for grades K-3, primarily serving students with autism and nonverbal communication challenges. This classroom will have a caseload of 7 students and at least two teaching assistants to support daily instruction. The other role focuses on an inclusion classroom for grades 9-12, with a caseload averaging 15 students but potentially serving up to 37 daily learners. Desired qualifications and experience: Special Education certification, with preference for Adaptive certification; other certifications and out-of-state credentials will be considered. Experience working with students with autism and other intensive support needs. Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching assistants and educational staff. Strong classroom management skills within both self-contained and inclusion settings. Commitment to providing individualized instruction and promoting student success.
