A K-12 school in Columbus, OH is seeking a certified Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for a full-school-year contract position. This role focuses on supporting students with disabilities by enhancing their motor skills, coordination, and overall physical development through customized adaptive physical education programs.

Key Responsibilities: Identify students in need of Adaptive Physical Education services. Participate as a member of the evaluation team assessing students motor and physical development abilities. Develop, write, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for qualifying students. Attend IEP meetings as necessary to discuss student progress and needs. Collaborate with special education teachers, general education teachers, and physical education staff to design appropriate programs tailored for Adaptive P.E. students. Implement instructional programs that address the unique individual needs of each student served. Work with students both individually and in groups, focusing on improving motor skills, coordination, and social-psychological development. Modify standard physical education curricula to meet the adaptive needs of students. Provide in-service training for school staff and engage community members as required. Offer consultation and support to children, parents, educators, and administrators. Maintain ongoing communication with physical education instructors, special education colleagues, school principals, and administrative staff. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Special Education. Qualifications: Must hold an Ohio Special Education Teachers Certificate specifically for Adaptive Physical Education. Experience working with students with disabilities in a physical education setting. Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and administrators. Strong understanding of motor development and adaptive physical education methodologies.
