An opportunity exists for a skilled Adaptive Physical Education teacher to provide specialized physical education services for K-12 students. Responsibilities include: Identifying students eligible for Adaptive Physical Education (P.E.) services through careful assessment. Collaborating as a member of an evaluation team to assess students' motor skills and physical development. Developing, writing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each qualifying student's unique needs. Participating in IEP meetings to provide insights and updates on student progress. Coordinating with special education, regular education, and physical education teachers to design and implement appropriate Adaptive P.E. programs. Delivering instructional programs suited to the individual needs of students, addressing motor abilities, coordination, and social-psychological factors. Adapting standard physical education curriculum to accommodate students requiring Adaptive P.E. Providing in-service training to school personnel and community members regarding Adaptive P.E. initiatives. Offering consultation and maintaining ongoing communication with children, parents, educators, administrators, and relevant staff. Performing additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Special Education. Qualifications and experience: Must hold a valid Ohio Special Education Teachers Certificate with a specialization in Adaptive Physical Education. Proven experience working with students with disabilities and adapting physical education programs. Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
