Full-Time 1099 Contract Position Summary
As a Remote Special Education Teacher serving New Mexico students in K8, you will deliver individualized instruction, develop and manage IEPs, and collaborate virtually with families, general education teachers, and support staffall from a home-based workspace. Key Responsibilities
Provide live
virtual instruction
aligned with student IEP goals in both small groups and one-on-one settings
Develop, implement, and monitor
Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
in compliance with IDEA and New Mexico Public Education Department regulations
Facilitate virtual
IEP meetings , progress updates, and conferences with parents and multidisciplinary teams
Maintain accurate documentation including IEPs, service logs, progress reports, and compliance records
Utilize digital learning platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom, Canvas) and assistive technology to enhance instruction
Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to ensure coherent support and inclusion
Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs, accommodations, and modifications
Qualifications Required
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
Valid New Mexico Special Education teaching license
Minimum of 2 years of K12 special education teaching experience
Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and special education law (IDEA, Section 504)
Proficiency with virtual teaching platforms and educational technology tools
Dependable high-speed internet, webcam, quiet professional workspace
Strong communication, organizational, and self?management skills
Preferred
Experience teaching students with diverse disabilities (e.g., autism, emotional/behavioral needs, intellectual disabilities)
Bilingual in English/Spanish or experience with English language learners
Familiarity with New Mexico-specific digital IEP systems (e.g., STARS)
Formal training or experience in virtual learning or teletherapy settings
