An opportunity is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Kent, WA. This contract position runs for the current school year (CSY) and focuses on providing specialized mobility and orientation instruction to visually impaired students, helping them build independence and confidence in navigating their environments.

Responsibilities: Assess students orientation and mobility needs and develop individualized instructional plans Teach safe travel techniques, use of mobility aids, and spatial orientation skills Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to integrate mobility goals into educational programs Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed Provide training and resources to families and school personnel on orientation and mobility strategies Participate in relevant meetings, evaluations, and documentation processes Qualifications: Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS or similar credential) Experience working with children and youth, preferably within K-12 educational settings Strong knowledge of strategies and tools used for orientation and mobility for visually impaired individuals Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams Excellent communication skills and patience with children of varying abilities Location: Kent, Washington This contract role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact on students independence and quality of life within a supportive educational environment.
