Code Enforcement Officer

Under general supervision, the Code Enforcement Officer identifies and cause abatement of various nuisance violations, ensuring properties are maintained in accordance with nuisance codes, zoning codes and all other applicable city codes. Posted pay range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience. Examples of Duties

Performs field investigations for alleged violations; notifies property occupants of various violations; accesses and researches public databases; provides accurate information about the ordinances objectives; maintains current and accurate information on the database; provides information on ordinances and compliances; maintains right-of-ways free of bandit signs, removing signs and providing information. Coordinates city abatements with contract vendor by initiating work orders, lien document and billing notices; accompanies vendors to violation sites; requests billing when contract abatement is completed; submits and approves invoice for payment; scans and downloads documents to case files. Refers cases to City Attorney; prepares all case files for litigations; monitors and compiles evidences and follows up with attorney. Makes changes, corrections and additions to the code enforcement system; identifies system changes and makes necessary corrections and adjustments; submits reports for monthly summary report submittal; assures that tracking and efficiency is up to date. Experience and Training

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. One (1) or more years of experience in code enforcement or similar position, such as inspections or neighborhood coordination. Certificates and Licenses Required

Valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to employment. Registered as a Code Enforcement Officer with the State of Texas within one (1) year of employment.
