Job Opportunity: Tax Front Counter Technician

The Utah State Tax Commission's Income Tax and Education Division is looking for a skilled and motivated individual to fill its Tax Front Counter Technician position. This person will play an integral role in the Division's mission to answer taxpayer inquiries. You must be current on your state and federal tax filings and pass a FBI level criminal background check. Principal duties include: Enter data Pay attention to details Work under pressure and meet deadlines Provide general information Work in a team environment Work with taxpayers over the phone and in person The ideal candidate for this position is someone who: has exceptional customer service skills has the ability to work in an adverse environment dealing with upset people over the phone and in person can work in a fast paced environment has excellent data entry skills Salary: Non-state employees are hired for this position at $18.21 an hour. The pay range for this position for potential earnings is $15.09 - $26.67 hourly. Work Location/Schedule: This position works Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, in the office at 210 N 1950 W Salt Lake City, Utah 84134. Preferences: Preference may be given to those who have experience keeping information confidential. Preference may be given to those who speak Spanish. Working Conditions: Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.. Physical Requirements: Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. Other Requirements: Personal tax filings and vehicle registrations must be current and complete.
