This contract position is for the 2025-2026 school year, working as a Special Education Teacher serving K-5 students with life skills and severe or multiple cognitive disabilities. The role is based in an elementary school setting and runs from August 25, 2025, through June 10, 2026, with daily hours from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Responsibilities include: Developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs Collaborating with a team of seven educational technicians (paras) to support a caseload of 12 students Utilizing specialized instructional strategies suitable for students with severe or multiple disabilities Monitoring and assessing student progress regularly to inform instructional adjustments Ensuring compliance with state and federal special education regulations Maintaining clear communication with families, school staff, and related service providers Qualifications: Valid Maine teaching certification (282) or an out-of-state reciprocal equivalent in Special Education Experience working with K-5 students, particularly those requiring life skills and cognitive support Strong knowledge of special education laws, instructional methods, and behavior management techniques Ability to lead and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary classroom team Location: Rockland, Maine Elementary School setting This contract offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the educational journey of students with significant learning challenges.
