A specialized teaching opportunity is available for the 2025-2026 school year, focused on serving students with unique learning needs in an elementary school setting. This contract position, located in Bangor, ME, runs from August 25, 2025, to June 10, 2026, and operates during standard school hours from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The role involves providing comprehensive Special Education instruction to a caseload of 12 students in grades K-5, specifically in Life Skills and Severely or Multiple Disabilities (cognitive) areas. You will be supported by a dedicated team of 7 educational technicians (paras) within the classroom, enhancing the delivery of individualized learning plans and fostering an inclusive educational environment. Key qualifications for this position include: Valid Maine Special Education certification (certificate 282) or a reciprocal out-of-state equivalent. Experience working with students who have life skills and cognitive disabilities. Ability to plan, implement, and adapt instructional activities to meet diverse student needs. Strong collaboration skills to effectively work with educational technicians and school staff. Site location: Elementary school setting in Bangor, Maine. Primary duties include: Designing and delivering specialized instruction tailored to the needs of students with multiple disabilities. Monitoring academic progress and developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Collaborating with paraeducators to facilitate student engagement and learning. Maintaining compliance with state and federal special education laws and guidelines.
