An opportunity is available for a dedicated 1st grade Special Education Teacher to support a diverse classroom of 15-20 students in an elementary school setting, located in Far Rockaway, NY. This full school year contract position focuses on delivering individualized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of young learners with special education requirements.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) designed to promote academic growth and social development. Utilize differentiated teaching strategies to engage 1st grade students with varying abilities and learning styles. Collaborate closely with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning. Monitor and document student progress through regular assessments and update IEPs accordingly. Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and self-confidence. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities. Essential Qualifications: Valid New York State Special Education (K-12) certification. Experience teaching elementary-level special education students, preferably 1st grade. Strong classroom management skills and patience in supporting students with diverse learning needs. Ability to build collaborative relationships with students, families, and school staff. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional standards.
