An opportunity is available for an experienced Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support K-12 students in a school environment. This contract position spans the current school year (CSY) and is located in Deltona, FL. The role focuses on providing mobility training and orientation to students with visual impairments, enabling them to navigate their environments confidently and safely. Key Responsibilities: Assess students mobility needs and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans. Teach techniques for safe and independent navigation in school and community settings. Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to support student goals. Use assistive technology and adaptive equipment effectively. Maintain documentation and progress reports according to established standards. Preferred Qualifications: Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS or equivalent). Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of relevant laws and guidelines related to special education services. Location: Deltona, Florida
